JAMB Introduces a New Step for 2026 Admissions

To all students, parents, and guardians preparing for the 2026 academic session, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has shared an important update regarding the admission process. This new step is designed to bring clarity and finality to every candidate’s journey.

Starting with the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) cycle, all candidates will be required to formally declare their admission status on the JAMB portal.

In simple terms, after the admission exercise has run its course, each candidate will need to log into their JAMB profile and explicitly state whether they have accepted an admission offer or not.

This declaration serves as an official confirmation point. For those who have received and are happy with an offer, it is a way to formally secure their place. For those who may not have received an offer or who have chosen a different path, it helps JAMB and the institutions understand your decision, ensuring that unused slots can be managed appropriately.

This new process is being introduced with the candidate’s experience in mind. The admission process can often feel uncertain, and this step aims to provide a clear endpoint. It ensures that every candidate actively participates in the final stage of their admission journey, leaving no room for ambiguity.

By confirming your status, you are not only helping the system function more smoothly but also taking ownership of your educational future.

For prospective 2026 UTME candidates, this is simply a new step to be aware of as you prepare. There is no need for concern; it is a straightforward process that will be clearly guided when the time comes.

We encourage you to focus on your preparations for the examination itself. When the admission period arrives, you will be well-prepared to navigate this final, important step with confidence.

Your journey to higher education is important, and this update is intended to make the final step of that journey clearer and more definitive for everyone involved.
